Statewide Mandate: PEN Compulsory for Students Beginning Academic Year 2024-25
To facilitate seamless transitions between schools, the State Education Department has mandated the use of Permanent Education Number (PEN) starting from the academic year 2024-25. PEN serves as a distinctive identifier allocated to each student by the Union Ministry of Education via the UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education Plus) portal, encompassing over 14.89 lakh schools, 95 lakh educators, and 26.5 crore students.
